Motivation

Content

The purpose of this session is to provide insight for students, highlighting the importance of taking responsibility for their futures and the different avenues they can explore, whether that is higher education or employment.

Objectives

  •  To encourage students to develop self-motivation

  •  To remove any self-limiting barriers
  •  To encourage students to take personal responsibility for their futures

Results

By instilling students with the strategies to set goals and targets, they will be able to overcome some of the hurdles and barriers which many young individuals currently experience.


Confidence and Resilience

Content

The purpose of this session is to promote development of the mindset, encouraging students to embrace and overcome the challenges they are faced with. This highlights the importance of positive thinking, and the skills which are required to commit to these changes.

Results

Students will be equipped with the techniques and belief to overcome the self-limiting barriers which is limiting them, and preventing them reaching their true potential.


Personal Skills Development

Content

The purpose of this session is to introduce students with the terms ‘interpersonal skills’ and ‘emotional intelligence’. It will focus on their importance and application in everyday life. This leads onto the topic of communication, and how we convey information through our tone and body language.

Objectives

Results

Students will be taught the techniques to methodically react to situations through reasoning as opposed to impulse. By explaining the importance of how we communicate, they will be more conscious of how they present themselves and how to adapt their body language and tone of voice appropriately.


Assertiveness, Team Building, Problem Solving and Decision Making

Content

This session is designed to show students how to be assertive and how to respond in difficult situations. It leads onto teamwork and problem solving and the importance of it in everyday settings. The practical activities in this session demonstrate to students how to work cohesively within a team towards a common goal.

Results

This session teaches the importance of assertive behaviour when working both individually and in a team setting. This provides students with the tools to deliver information in a fluent and confident manner in both education and industry


Employability skills (1)

Content

This session focuses on the skills which are required when applying and interviewing for employment or Higher Education. The session will cover;

  • How to write a CV
  • The different types of CV
  • How to tailor a CV
  • The importance of a covering letter
  • How to brand yourself

The session will conclude with an introduction to networking.

Results

Students will be able to produce a well structured CV which is tailored to the specific application. They will understand the importance of building relationships and have an opportunity to practice and develop their networking skills.


Employability skills (2)

Content

This session builds on from Employability Skills (1) and will focus mainly on interview skills, covering the pre-planning stage of an interview right through to interview conduct. Concluding with a mock interview, students will be equipped with the essential techniques on how to answer typical interview questions.

Results

The students will learn how to prepare for an interview, how to present themselves to the best of their abilities and how to answer difficult and probing questions.


Getting Exam Ready

Content

‘Getting Exam Ready’ will equip students with the techniques which can be used to attain the best possible grades. Following a quick recap on goal setting, students will learn how to prioritise their time effectively. They will be taught a number of skills and techniques which are proven to be effective and boost exam results.

Results

Students will set realistic goals on a subject by subject basis to help plan for exam success and achieve study goals. They will be equipped with a number of different learning strategies, which can be tailored according to what works best for them.


Creativity, Problem Solving & Spotting Opportunities

Content

This course will introduce creativity and how students can implement this in a practical setting. It will cover a variety of topics including entrepreneurship and innovation. Following this, students will get an understanding of how to be effective problem solvers with activity based work to reinforce learning. The session will conclude with learning the skills which are involved in spotting opportunities.

Results

Students will grasp the importance of creativity and how this is fundamental for the production of new ideas and new ways of thinking. They will be able to streamline their thought process using the step by step guidance we will provide them with, producing effective solutions to complex problems. Students will be able to recognise the importance of changing their perceptions, and thus identify different opportunities they may be presented with.


Money Matters

Content

This session places an emphasis on the importance of money and how it affects every decision students will make in their lives. Students will be made aware of the steps they need to take to avoid their financial information getting into the wrong hands, and also the advantages and disadvantages of credit and savings. It introduces the concept of ‘needs’ and ‘wants’ and how they change as we move through different stages in life. This session will also cover renting accommodation and insurance policies for those older students moving away from home for further education or work.
